Price of CBAM certificates for Q1 2026 announced

The European Commission, in accordance with the approved schedule, on April 7, 2026 officially announced the price of Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) certificates for the first quarter of 2026 - €75.36/t CO2e .

This is the first official price announcement after the full entry into force of the ETS legislation on 1 January 2026. This price was calculated based on the first quarter average of the prices of allowances set in the European Union Emissions Trading System ( EU ETS ) auctions.

This tariff will become the financial basis for calculating the tax on greenhouse gas emissions contained in goods imported into the European Union during the first three months of this year.

We remind you that the quarterly price is always calculated in the first calendar week of the following quarter. Business entities can find official data on the European Commission's CBAM website .

According to the schedule approved by the European Commission, prices for the later quarters of 2026 will be published on the following dates:

  • For the second quarter – July 6, 2026.
  • For the 3rd quarter – October 5, 2026.
  • For the fourth quarter – January 4, 2027.

The purchase of CBAM certificates will only begin on February 1, 2027. Financial settlement will be carried out retroactively for all CBAM goods imported in 2026 and the first quarter of 2027. Importers are encouraged to continue to carefully collect and verify emissions data in order to successfully prepare for future settlements.
