European Commission approves the 2026 CBAM certificate price publication schedule
The European Commission will publish the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) certificate price for the first quarter of 2026 on 7 April 2026.
For imports in 2026, the CBAM certificate price will be calculated based on the average price of emission allowances determined in the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) auctions during the respective quarter.
The quarterly price will be calculated during the first calendar week of the following quarter and published on the first working day after the calculation week. The price will be available both on the European Commission's CBAM website and in the CBAM Registry.
The purchase of CBAM certificates will begin on 1 February 2027 for imports made during 2026 and the first quarter of 2027.
The publication dates for CBAM certificate prices for the remaining quarters of 2026 are:
- 6 July 2026 - Q2 2026
- 5 October 2026 - Q3 2026
- 4 January 2027 - Q4 2026
